Nourhan Abdallah

Nourhan Abdullah, also known as Nour Abdullah, is an Egyptian visual artist who graduated from the Faculty of Fine Arts in Luxor in 2022, specializing in oil painting. She began her artistic journey during her time at university, where she pursued academic studies in art. Through her education, she developed a distinct artistic direction, focusing on Egyptian folk art.
Her works are deeply influenced by the vibrant lights and colors of folk traditions. She often incorporates figures into her paintings, creating works that reflect Egyptian dance and folk culture. For Nour, dance is a universal language that speaks to the soul, a form of expression that transcends borders and requires no translation.
However, she also reflects the complexities of society’s dual perceptions. While dance was once a form of rebellion and empowerment for women during times of war and occupation, it later became misinterpreted and categorized as primal and sexual. This shift is something Noor explores through her art.
As her work evolved, her emotional responses to societal issues began to take shape in her paintings, especially in response to the increasing visibility of social problems such as harassment and the oppression of women. Her later works convey a maturity in both life and art, capturing the changing dynamics of society. While her artistic voice has matured, her paintings remain thought-provoking, often raising questions among viewers.
