Mona Mohaymen

Mona Mohaymen is a Cairo-based visual artist and painter, working primarily in oil. Her artistic practice is characterized by openness, experimentation, and an evolving visual language. Rather than adhering to a fixed style, Mona allows her work to respond organically to her changing personal, social, and political environments, embracing fluidity as a central concept.
In the early stages of her career, she explores various artistic directions, guided by intuition, rhythm, and emotional resonance. Her creative process values accidents, contrasts, and textures, viewing each artwork as an ongoing inquiry rather than a final statement.
Artist Statement
“My practice is a continuous journey of exploration. I approach painting as an open-ended process led by intuition and emotion. I allow unexpected elements—texture, contrast, and spontaneity—to shape my work. Change, for me, is not only inevitable but essential. It reflects both my surroundings and my evolving inner world. I trust that with honest exploration, a distinct visual language will emerge in its own time.”
