Between a Sea – 2023
Between a Sea is a visual artistic project which goal is to discuss human movement and interaction within coastal environments in countries and cities around the Mediterranean, whether residents or visitors, and the difference between cultures by mixing the real world and the digital world. By focusing on the activities that a person performed during his daily life. By following human movement and how it looks while doing simple actions such as passing in the street, enjoying the sea, or walking with a friend. Which may not be seen through snap shots. While colors and patterns hide distortions around shapes and show features of different environments and cultures, which helps in framing their movement or stillness, so that this movement is interacted with as part of a performance or work of art. The project has already begun producing a number of artistic works in the form of digital collages combining the city of Alexandria in Egypt and the city of Lisbon in Portugal. The two cities are famous for their love of fishing as an important part of their culture, and they overlook the shore of the Mediterranean Sea. What I propose at the present time is to identify and annex new cities such as the city of Tetouan in Morocco and Palermo in Italy in the near future, in addition to working on expansion and discussing the project in more than one artistic medium such as art. Installation in space, video, and audio, where I can try to shape and create an imagined environment for different cultures as part of their openness and integration with each other.
Tarat – 2022
Tarat is a visual project that examines the nature of the Siwian women’s existence and her relationship with the surrounding public spaces, which is not presented in the first place due to the societal complications that force her to limit her role or appearance to housework only. As the woman there, she must not leave the house completely unless accompanied by one of the men in the family, even if he is a five-year-old child. This leads to the person not feeling that he is passing by a woman or her presence in the ocean, as she looks like a shadow and suddenly disappears.
I usually hide – 2021
a visual project that discusses my relationship with public spaces, which I walkthrough like it’s my personal studio. as I’m interested in mixing between real and digital world. By focusing on the activities that a person used to do during his daily life. Concentrating on human movement and how it looks like during doing simple acts like passing the street, waiting for the metro, or walking with a friend.
Which might not be seen through ordinary snapshots. Whereas colors and patterns hide distortions around figures which help to frame their movements or stillness, so it’d be reveal as part of a performance or an artwork, I usually hide when I am unable to capture those moments, as photographing in public spaces is not an easy matter, which forces me to hide inside transportation or in far spots, in an attempt to maintain my safety and not be subjected to questions.
Thus, a relationship is created between me and those shots. as it has this movement and that blurry effect on it which reveals the process I went through to capture them.
