Salma Abouzeid El Ashry is an Egyptian visual artist who earned her Ph.D. in Art Education (Painting) in 2022. She is currently a Lecturer in the Department of Drawing and Painting at the Faculty of Art Education, capital university.

Her artistic and academic practice is grounded in the exploration of the relationship between symbolism and artistic concepts, viewing symbols as vehicles for constructing meaning and shaping visual perception within the artwork. Her research places particular emphasis on Ancient Egyptian culture, examining the visual and philosophical significance of symbols and their connections to mythology and systems of belief, while considering them as carriers of meaning and reflections of humanity’s evolving worldview across civilizations.

In her artistic practice, she reinterprets traditional symbols within contemporary visual contexts, creating works that invite multiple readings, oscillating between harmonious symbolic structures and references to states of tension and transformation. Her artworks establish a visual dialogue between reality and symbolic compositions within contemplative spaces, raising questions of identity, memory, and spirituality in an ongoing attempt to redefine the relationship between humanity and its world through visions that remain open to possibility and transformation.

She has held three solo exhibitions: *Untitled* (2016) and *Venus Orbits* (2025). Akhet (2026). She has also participated in numerous group exhibitions in Egypt and internationally. She has received several prestigious awards, most notably five awards from the Youth Salon in its 25th, 26th, 27th, and 30th editions (including two awards in the 30th edition). Her works are held in numerous public and private collections in Egypt and abroad, including the collection of the Museum of Modern Art, Egypt (2017 and 2019).
